The Christmas Bird Count went well. It was a very chilly day, but it was well worth it. The woods were so quiet in some places.

There was a wonderful moment when 600-700 Canada Geese flew overhead.
These are just a few of them.

Two kestrels were the highlight of the day (for me, anyway) although I have no photos of them. It was so much fun, I hope to go again next year.

Where have I been? ......
I can think of two verses to desribe what the last 3 years have been like.

"Pussycat, Pussycat
Pussycat, pussycat, where have you been? I've been to London to visit the Queen. Pussycat, pussycat, what did you there? I frightened a little mouse under her chair. "

- Well, even if I haven't gone back to London yet - it describes how I feel, and so does this one;

"The Owl and the Pussy-Cat by Edward Lear
The Owl and the Pussy-cat went to sea In a beautiful pea-green boat They took some honey, and plenty of money, Wrapped up in a five-pound note. ......
...
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon, The moon, The moon, They danced by the light of the moon."

Hope you like the pictures, I am planning to be on a Christmas Bird Count tomorrow.
Tempus Fugit...
I've been pretty busy of course. I'll start with some pictures until I feel more like talking about it.

Insomnia again.

Sometimes what keeps me awake is knowing I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

This poem by Robert Frost is one of my favorites, it describes in some fashion the restlessness that just won't go away, even if I am unsure of where the destinations are or what it is I am really looking for.

"STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING, Robert Frost
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep. "
